Jack Standard School is a private school registered with the Ugandan Ministry of Education in 1999. It is situated at Nangunga, Mukono District, a very disadvantaged area of Uganda.
Jackson is a retired international footballer and is at present the assistant coach to the national team. He and his wife, Rose, have been sponsoring the school with his salary from his playing days and his current employment. They both wish to help the community and district in which he grew up. At least 30 orphan children sleep at the school as they have no where else to go.
The school is at present renting very poor quality buildings which are not school type property but at least the children are receiving a much needed education.
Fees are charged for education as the Government does not provide free education, however many children in the school pay no fees as they can’t afford to. The fees are meant to cover the cost of the teachers’ salaries, and some of the running costs and there is a need for assistance towards some teaching resources/exam costs.
If you wish to contribute please download the Supporting teams 4U form (pdf) and send to T4U to make a donation online please click on thejust giving icon, right.
The teachers at present are paid as follows, Head teacher approx £40.00 per month for 12 months and teachers approx £30.00 per month for 9 months
