Bishops Blue Coat CoE School to visit Romania

Bishops Blue Coat CoE School to visit Romania

In March 2010 Bishops Blue Coat Church of England High school will be going on an educational visit to Romania with 12 other students and two teachers.

They will be staying for one week in a town called Oradea, where they will visit Urvind communiy. Here the students will be running activities for the children in Urvind, such as football and music, through which they we will be helping the children to build self respect and to equip them with foundational life skills.

Here is what the team had to say about why they are going:

"We all feel that by going to Romania, we will gain vital experiences in life. We believe that it is important to experience the way that other people live to help us appreciate what we have. When we first found out about the trip, we knew it was going to be a once in a lifetime experience to go to Romania and to help and work with kids. Quite a few members of the group hope to work with children when they are older, therefore, thought that this would be a great chance to work with kids from a different background and to be able to feel as if we are giving something back. All of us from the Bishops high school want to make a difference. At the moment, we are all feeling very excited about working as a team but nervous to see how this experience will change us. We are all really looking forward to it."

Where We Work

Our work is varied and diverse. In Eastern Europe, through one programme, we are sponsoring the care and education of abandoned children;

In another project we are helping to refurbish an orphanage where children who lived in sewers, are now being offered a home.
