This programme enables children and schools in the UK to engage in a practical way with communities in Eastern Europe and Africa. In countries such as Romania, Belarus and Uganda state education for children is sometimes free but the families have to provide uniform and all school equipment. For some poorer families this prohibits their children from attending school. We encourage partnership with the school in the UK and abroad with interaction between them, via ourselves. We feel this helps to raise the awareness with children in the UK with cultures and the lives of children overseas. To make this more accessible to the children we welcome the opportunity to present to the children about the specific schools and children attending them.
In schools where we already offer educational sponsorship programmes we are providing children with a bag and essential writing equipment. Children in the schools in the UK provide a pencil case and contents, including pencils, crayons, pens, rubber, sharpener and ruler. (The pencil case and contents do not have to be new - just in good condition). We collect the pencil cases from the school and put these and other essentials into a school bag for each child.
