The purpose of a specialist team is to assist in building capacity with those that are working with children every day of the year. Equipping and training those that work with the children every day is critical to enhancing the lives and well being of children. Specialist teams harness the gifts, training and expertise of individuals and enable their skills to be transferred to our partners as we work alongside them.
For example a team of nursing staff can provide technical help and encouragement and transfer knowledge to staff working in the AIDS and highly infectious diseases hospital in the Crimea, Ukraine. Whilst a work team enhances the children's physical environment, a specialist nursing team can enhance the medical treatment they receive.
In Uganda, a partner was provided with management training to enable them as an organisation to plan their long term goals in working with disadvantaged children and how these aspirations can be achieved.
